Audit-Proof Finance Automation Deterministic Agentic AI

Your Finance Team is Using AI. Your Auditor Doesn’t Know Yet.

Turn finance knowledge into dependable apps, agents and automations.

Start with one invoice workflow. Agree the matching rules, approval authority and permitted ERP actions, then evaluate the work and its evidence.

Kognitos is an enterprise AI platform for finance apps, agents and automations governed by approved English-as-Code. Its neurosymbolic architecture separates AI planning from deterministic execution. Inspect the source records, logic and execution behind results.

Recognized by Leading Analysts

Your team is already using AI for finance.
Your auditor is about to ask why.

Someone on your AP team pastes invoices into ChatGPT. Your shared services lead asks Claude to explain a variance. Three of your vendors changed their homepage to say “agentic” last month. Your audit committee started asking questions in February.

None of it is wrong. None of it is documented either.

The gap is not capability. It is evidence. Audit-proof is the difference between AI your team can run and AI your CFO can defend.

Three Jobs. Three Apps.
Live in Your Stack Today.

Every agent named. Every decision logged. Every run replayable. Pick a tab. Watch one work.

“Close in three days. Sign the audit memo without rewriting it.”

Open the Close Cockpit. You see working day, tasks complete, status, and JE pipeline in one screen. The subledger × phase matrix tells you Bank is reconciled, AR is reconciled, AP is reconciled, GL is certified. Nine named agents do the work underneath. Every JE has a name, a version, and a replay. Every posting is executed deterministically, so the entry your controller reviewed in the sandbox is the entry that hits the ledger in production. PwC walks through. You watch.

What You Get

  • Nine named close agents covering bank reconciliation, subledger reconciliation, recurring journal entries, JE approval, variance analysis, and certification.
  • Subledger by phase matrix: Bank, AR, AP, and GL status in one screen, on any working day.
  • Every journal entry carries a name, a version, and a replayable run log.
  • Close calendar and task checklist your controller edits in plain English, not by filing a ticket.
  • A close memo your auditor walks end to end, with no spreadsheet reconciliation.

Match the invoice. Route the exception. Inspect the result.

Compare an invoice with its purchase order and goods receipt using approved matching tolerances. Route quantity, price or missing-receipt exceptions to an authorized reviewer before a permitted ERP action. Inspect the governing English procedure and execution evidence, while your ERP remains the system of record. Explore three-way invoice matching and the Apps catalog.

Exception handling captures business knowledge and automatically authors English rules from resolutions. Review, approve and test a reusable rule before applying it to later invoices; keep a one-time resolution separate from a policy change. See the exception-handling guide and Guidance Center documentation.

Illustrative invoice evaluation

  • Sample records: an invoice and PO each show 100 units at $10; the receipt shows 96 units. Tax and freight are excluded. These are invented evaluation inputs, not a recorded product run.
  • Expected check: the invoice is $1,000; received quantity at the agreed price is $960. The $40 difference needs review under a no-quantity-variance rule.
  • Rule evidence: identify the approved English procedure and version. Hold the invoice for review; do not silently change the invoice or treat a confidence score as approval.
  • Human decision: ask an authorized reviewer to reconcile the receipt or request a corrected invoice. Retain the decision, supporting records and authority for any permitted action.
  • ERP outcome: demonstrate the actual status returned by the connected ERP. Distinguish held, rejected and posted; retain the resulting document ID when posting occurs.
  • Reuse test: keep this case's resolution separate from a new policy. Review, approve and test any reusable rule with both matching and mismatched invoices.

Run the same six cases: a clean match, quantity mismatch, missing receipt, duplicate, extraction error and ERP rejection. Record the actual result and supporting evidence for each case; leave unrun cases marked Not tested.

Download the source documents (ZIP: 17 PDFs), six test cases (CSV) and the evidence worksheet (Markdown). All inputs are fictional; no case has been run. The pack includes six invoices, six POs and five receipts; T03 deliberately has no receipt. T05 tests a deliberately altered extracted value, not a measured extraction failure. Follow the included setup guide and confirm your own approval policy before running the evaluation.

“Apply cash by noon. Collect from the accounts that move DSO. Know what you’re owed, to the hour.”

AR is the function everyone in finance forgets until DSO ticks up. Then it’s everyone’s problem. Open the AR Workspace and you see Total AR, DSO, past-due aging, today’s cash, six-month trend. Five named agents handle invoice-to-cash end to end. Cash Application stops escalating the cases that don’t fit. Collections works the accounts that actually move the number. Credit Management catches the slowdown before the bureau does.

What You Get

  • Real-time AR workspace tied to your ERP. Same number FP&A sees. Same number Treasury sees.
  • Six workbenches: Cash Application, Invoicing, Collections, Credit, Customers, Exceptions.
  • Five named agents covering invoice through dunning.
  • Audit-traceable adjustments, credit memos, and dispute notes, each written deterministically and replayable to the minute.
  • One number for AR, every minute. Yours, FP&A’s, and Treasury’s.

Whatever else your finance function does,
you can build that too.

Covenant compliance. Quarterly tax provisions. Intercompany loan tracking. Lease accounting. Whatever your function does that nobody else’s does, your finance team builds it as a Kognitos app. Same cockpit. Same audit trail. Same Know Your Agent visibility. No new vendor. No IT ticket. No six-month implementation.

Three apps ship today. Three placeholders for whatever your finance function does next. Same architecture. Same governance. Your team writes them in plain English.

Agent Maker

Write the Agent. In English. Today.

Your finance lead opens a chat window and types: “When a non-PO invoice over $5,000 arrives, check vendor against approved list, route to cost center owner, post on approval.” That’s a Kognitos agent. Versioned. Auditable. Replayable. IT does not need to touch it. That is English-as-Code. The sentence is the agent. Change the sentence, change the agent, keep the audit trail.

App Maker

Compose agents into apps. The Suite grows with you.

When you have five agents that work together, say the full quarterly tax provision flow, App Maker turns them into an app with its own cockpit, its own dashboard, its own place in the Suite. Same governance the other three apps run on. Built by your team. Used by your team.

Know Your Agent

Open one screen. Show your auditor everything.

Every agent you run, the ones we shipped and the ones you built, sits on one observatory. Each scored on LLM exposure, validation, and complexity. Live run counts, error rates, version history, approved troubleshooting guides. The audit question you couldn’t answer is now a tab.

Reads go through your ERP. Writes go through governed SOPs your team wrote and can change by chatting. That’s the architecture. That’s why your auditor will sign.

Follow the Document.
Inspect the Decision.

How can companies automate financial document processing while keeping an audit trail? Connect each result to its source records, the rule and version used, human decisions and the actual system outcome. Agree retention and access requirements before the workflow goes live.

01

Separate Interpretation From Execution

Approved logic governs the action.

Kognitos separates AI interpretation from symbolic execution of approved English logic. The symbolic executor runs that logic without LLM inference. Document interpretation and exception handling can still involve models. An incorrect extracted amount can produce an incorrect posting, so validate source fields and permitted actions.

02

Review and Test the Rule

Keep the procedure version with the result.

Business owners describe and review the procedure in English. Technical teams configure connections and controls. Test normal cases, missing data and exact policy boundaries before publication. Change one tolerance and repeat the same cases, recording the published version and actual decision each time.

03

Inspect Exceptions and Outcomes

An approval is not a completed ERP write.

Inspect the records, executed steps, reviewer decision and resulting ERP response for one run. Kognitos captures business knowledge through exception handling and automatically authors English rules. Resolving one case and approving instructions for future reuse are separate decisions. Confirm guidance scope and test reuse; agree how retained evidence supports later audit review.

Start with the illustrative invoice evidence example. The sample documents and expected decisions are an evaluation aid, not a recorded product result.

What CFOs

Before They Buy

Audit-proof finance automation makes the rules, execution and evidence behind the work inspectable. In Kognitos, approved English procedures govern deterministic execution, and teams can trace results to source records, calculations and execution evidence. Agree which inputs, approvals, procedure versions and records the workflow must retain; live provenance alone does not establish complete historical reconstruction.

Use approved matching tolerances and routing rules to identify mismatches and send exceptions to an authorized reviewer. For example, a quantity mismatch between an invoice and a goods receipt can be held for review before an ERP posting. In Kognitos, define the governing procedure in executable English and agree the permitted ERP actions and human approvals for the workflow. Keep the records, rule and resolution available for inspection.

Kognitos Apps support inspection of displayed numbers through contributing records, filters, calculations and source evidence. Identify model-derived input fields separately: deterministic arithmetic can still use an incorrectly extracted value. In an evaluation, trace one invoice result end to end, including the governing English, approvals and permitted ERP action.

Kognitos captures business knowledge during exception handling and automatically authors English rules from resolutions. A one-time resolution should remain case-specific unless the process owner chooses to make it reusable. Review, approve and test a reusable rule before applying it to later invoices, and retain the evidence for the change.

Choose an AP-specific product when its packaged invoice capture, matching, approval and ERP-posting workflows fit your requirements. Evaluate a general AI automation platform when you need to build and maintain custom workflows across systems or reuse business logic beyond AP. In either case, verify the required integrations, controls and operating cost.

Kognitos is an enterprise AI platform for apps, agents and automations governed by approved English rules. Start with one invoice-validation and exception-resolution workflow on your existing ERP. Before replacing an AP tool, demonstrate the reports, integrations, approvals and support your team needs. Compare correct completion, manual touches, exception-resolution time, rule-change effort and complete operating cost on the same invoice set.

Start with one invoice-validation and exception-resolution workflow; keep the ERP as the system of record. Agree matching tolerances, approval authority and permitted actions. For a sample invoice and PO of 100 units at $10 with only 96 units received, a no-quantity-variance rule should route the $40 difference for review. This is an illustrative test, not a recorded result. Require source records, the approved English procedure and version, the reviewer decision and the actual ERP outcome. A held invoice is not a successful posting. Include a clean match, missing receipt, duplicate, extraction error and rejected ERP action in the test set. Compare correct completion, manual touches, exception-resolution time, evidence-review effort and complete operating cost with the current process.

See the illustrative invoice evidence checklist and download the six-case test pack. Confirm connections, permissions and retention with your technical and control teams before the evaluation.

Kognitos separates AI planning and interpretation from symbolic execution of approved business logic. The symbolic executor runs approved logic without LLM inference. Document interpretation, classification and exception handling can still involve model calls, so validate model-derived fields and account for those steps separately.

A deterministic executor follows approved business logic rather than asking a language model to improvise each action. That makes the governing rules and execution available for inspection. Deterministic execution does not guarantee correct inputs: an incorrectly extracted invoice field can still produce an incorrect result, so validation and human approvals remain part of the workflow.

Evaluate the same invoice workflow using the same records, permitted actions and approval requirements. Ask each platform to change a business rule, trace a result to its evidence and resolve a recurring exception. Compare correct completion, manual touches, rule-change effort, maintenance and complete operating cost. Kognitos brings executable English, deterministic execution and inspection across apps, agents and automations to that evaluation.

Select a run and inspect its source records, procedure version, executed steps, human approvals and actual ERP outcome. Confirm evidence retention, access and export requirements for your deployment. Live result inspection alone does not establish complete historical reconstruction.

Agree a timeline for one defined workflow after checking integrations, data access, approval policy and test coverage. Record setup time and technical effort during the evaluation; a sandbox demonstration does not establish production readiness.

Technical teams verify integrations, credentials, permissions, allowed ERP actions and release controls. Business owners define and review the English procedure. Reassess those controls when connections, policies or workflow scope change.

Kognitos ships three live finance apps, Month-End Close, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable, plus an Agent Maker your team uses to build the rest in plain English. Teams automate reconciliations, journal entries, invoice processing, cash application, collections, intercompany, and reporting across whatever ERPs you run.

The initial invoice workflow runs on existing systems, with the ERP remaining the system of record. Confirm the connections, supported actions and permissions needed for your ERP version before evaluating the workflow.

Compare the automation artifact, configuration work, exception handling and evidence from the same invoice workflow. Kognitos emphasizes approved English logic, symbolic execution and inspectable results. Verify each shortlisted platform against current documentation and a controlled demonstration; do not assume every RPA product is limited to recorded clicks.

Finance teams report large reductions in manual work. TTX cut labor by roughly 80% at twice the volume, EOS reached a 98% automation rate on debt collection, and a GreenDot AR team resolved exceptions about 5x faster. Results depend on your processes and volumes.
